  A new Japanese trailer for Metroid: Other M has just released, which shows off some story cutscenes and additional gameplay footage. The first half of the cutscene introduces you to the team that Samus will be working with in the game’s opening area. Adam Malkovich is supposedly based on the Adam you meet in Metroid Fusion. The purple monster is a boss that can be defeated with missiles after your teammate freezes its arms.
  
  We were expecting Samus to ditch her team shortly after the game’s opening level, but you’ll notice clips of the team in several different environments, perhaps suggesting that you’ll be working together for a larger portion of the game than originally expected.   I like 8-bit music. I like it a lot. It's not just nostalgia. There's a really cool, aural aethetic you get from old-school sound chips that modern tech just can't compete with. I've often considered making some, but I always get put off by the effort of messing around with laptops and the innards of dead Game Boys.

  But now I don't have to! Because if I can persuade him to build me one, Linus Akesson has a stupidly awesome real-time solution. Called the Chipophone, it's a 1970s electric organ reworked as a 1980s game-emulating synth. Yes, where other '70s organs have remained static and dated, this one has modernised by a whole ten years over the last thirty! But chrono-jokes aside, it's amazing, with more settings, tweaks and sounds than you'd possibly believe, for authentic recreations of every chiptune technique around.
